Welcome to The Tragically Hip Podcast Series

About The Tragically Hip Podcast Series

Hey, it's jD here.

I've been a Tragically Hip fan my whole life - and in 2018 I decided to stop just listening and start doing something about it.

What started as a track-by-track deep dive into the band's discography has grown into something I "can longer contain."

Seven shows. Hundreds of episodes. A myriad of conversations with fans, musicians, journalists, and the members of the band themselves.

The Tragically Hip Podcast Series is the home of Fully & Completely, Getting Hip to The Hip, Discovering Downie, The TTHTop40 Countdown, The Tragically Hip On Shuffle, Yer Hipstories: Reflections From The Final Tour, and The Tragically Hip Interview Series - and every single one of them exists because this band deserves to be talked about at length, with care, and without an end date.

I am not a media company. I am not a brand. I am a fan operation built by someone who loves this music as much as you do - and everything I make comes from that place.

About jD

I'm a Toronto-based podcaster, creative producer, and lifelong Tragically Hip superfan who's been building The Tragically Hip Podcast Series since 2018.

What started as a track-by-track deep dive into the band's catalogue has grown into a seven-show network that's raised over $35,000 for the Downie Wenjack Fund, The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research, and CAMH.

I'm not a journalist, I'm not a critic — I'm a fan who loves this band as much as you do, and everything I make comes from that place.

Why I Do This

"The stories are rich. The memories are uplifting. And god damn, the music is just fantastic."

That's why I do this. Not for the numbers, not for the algorithm, not to build something that looks good in a pitch deck. I do this because The Tragically Hip has touched people in a way that very few bands ever have - and those people deserve a place to gather, to share, and to feel less alone in how deeply this music has meant to them.

I will never make this corporate. I will never make this exploitative. I will never stand between a fan and the thing they love and try to charge them for the privilege. Fan first. Always. That is the only metric that has ever mattered to me.

When I was neck deep in the TTHTop40 Countdown and fans from around the world started sharing their Hipstories - the moments, the concerts, the losses, the road trips, the memories tied to specific songs - I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

This is not content. This is community. And my job is to share this experience with as many people as I can reach, for as long as they'll have me.

If you've ever been touched by the music of The Tragically Hip, this was built for you.

About Yer Letter

Yer Letter is the monthly newsletter for the TTH Pods community — written for fans, by a fan. It's where I share what's happening across the network, what's coming up, and the kind of Hip conversation that doesn't fit anywhere else. No fluff, no filler — just the stuff worth reading. If you've found your way here, you already know why the Hip matters. This is just another place we get to talk about it. Simply fill out the required fields (Name/Email) and choose to opt in to either or both of sms and birthday greetings.
